Job Ready PA--Industry Partnerships in Montgomery County

Since the implementation of Industry Partnerships and Worker Training Activities in 2006 (funded by the PA Department of Labor and Industry):

The Montgomery County Workforce Investment Board has received nearly 2.1 million dollars of support for these activities
Over 4,000 trainings have been conducted
More than 200 companies have benefited
Industry Partnerships were created through the PA Department of Labor and Industry and Governor Rendell’s Job Ready PA initiative.

Industry Partnerships bring together multiple employers in a specific industry to evaluate needs, conduct gap analyses, build in-depth knowledge of the industry, address common or overlapping human capital needs and design solutions to staffing and competitiveness challenges.  Industry Partnerships are a key institutional innovation for meeting the skills needs of businesses, the career goals of workers, and the economic development goals of the Commonwealth.  The Industry Partnerships serve three customers:

1) Employers – determining and addressing incumbent workforce training needs from the employers’ perspective

2) Existing Workers – acquiring new skills to become more proficient in their jobs

3) Job Seekers - creating the pipeline of needed workers both through new-hires in the industry as well as job opportunities for unemployed or economically disadvantaged individuals
